Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £60,000.00 per year

The Role

We're currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a reputable and growing business operating within the facilities management sector, based out of their Manchester office. This is a full-time, permanent position suited to an experienced engineer with a strong background in mechanical building services design. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning and development of mechanical systems across a variety of commercial and industrial buildings. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for long-term stability and the chance to work in a supportive office-based environment on high-quality local projects.

Responsibilities

  1. Produce detailed mechanical designs for building services including HVAC, heating, and plumbing systems
  2. Develop project specifications, layouts, and schematics
  3. Collaborate with project managers and other design professionals to ensure project requirements are met
  4. Ensure all designs are compliant with current regulations and standards
  5. Provide technical support and guidance during project delivery
  6. Attend internal meetings and liaise with clients and contractors as required
  7. Review and improve existing design practices

Requirements

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical building services design
  2. Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD and Revit (or equivalent)
  3. Strong understanding of UK building regulations and compliance standards
  4. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  5. Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  6. HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
  7. Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
  8. Must be based within commutable distance to Manchester and available for in-person work
