Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Wolverhampton Up to £50.5k Progressive Engineer ing and a European Leader in Complex Mechanical Handling, Process Systems & Machinery Engineer ing for Nuclear Applications are looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for their Engineer ing & Manufacturing HQ near Wolverhampton, owing to project workload for 2024-2025+. Based in Wolverhampton and reporting into the Mechanical Design Manager, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design & delivery of complex mechanical handling, machinery & process systems for heavy-regulated applications in the Nuclear Sector (including Defence, New Build, Modular Reactor & Fusion / Fission Energy Projects). Specifically, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be leading a small team of Design Engineer s to deliver concept- engineer ed solutions against complex requirements through the design lifecycle (from Front End Engineer ing to Detailed Design production), ensuring that the design s meet the requirements of the project and are compliant codes & standards. Qualification & Experience Required for Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role: Degree in Mechanical Engineer ing or similar (Automotive Engineer ing, Aerospace Engineer ing, Aeronautical Engineer ing etc) Prior experience as Mechanical Design Engineer , Senior Mechanical Design Engineer , Lead Design Engineer Full design lifecycle experience, taking design s through the gull design lifecycle, from concept through manufacture and commissioning Previous experience of leading and/or managing small teams of engineer s (directly or indirectly) Prior DFM experience including Fabrication, Machining, Welding etc Experience in the mechanical design of Machinery, Mechanical Handling Systems, Hydraulics, Heavy Fabricated Structures, Landing Gear, Complex Mechanical Assemblies, Bulk Handling Systems, Oil & Gas Engineer ed Systems etc for regulated applications, such as Oil & Gas, Energy, Heavy Engineer ing, Pharmaceutical, Mining, Process Industry, Aerospace etc Previous design experience using 3D CAD, FEA Analysis Software and Hand Calculations to validate design s (stress & structural calculations etc).
