Mechanical Design Engineer

Job description

Key responsibilities of the role:

1. Design and develop mechanical systems using SolidWorks and DraftSight.
2. Oversee the entire lifecycle of the machine design process, from planning and design to testing and implementation.
3. Support fellow design colleagues with their CAD drawings/3D work.
4. Support the company's technical developments.
5. Produce assembly instructions and assist Engineers on construction.
6. Work on supporting technical documentation e.g. drawings, specifications & BOM's.
7. Work with colleagues to help develop innovative and creative concept designs.
8. Produce virtual walkthroughs and simulations from CAD drawings.
9. Troubleshoot problems and devise solutions to resolve them.

Education and Qualifications:

1. Relevant background in Engineering and 3D CAD Design in industry.

Key skills and competencies:

1. Experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD software (ideally SolidWorks) & 2D CAD Software (AutoCAD, DraftSight etc.).
2. Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering standards.
3. An understanding of modern automated systems.
4. Strong organisation, collaboration and communication skills.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills.
6. Detail-oriented, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
7. Customer oriented.
8. Competent in Microsoft Office.

Desired skills:

1. Ability to perform and understand engineering calculations and simulations.
2. Familiarity with electrical design, wiring diagrams.
