The Role

This role is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established and respected company in the heavy rotating equipment sector. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be at the heart of the design process, contributing to high-quality, innovative products. There is potential for career progression, including a path to a Lead Engineer position within five years.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Development: Create and enhance mechanical designs from concept through to production, ensuring the highest standards of engineering are met.
2. Collaboration with Manufacturing: Work alongside the production team to ensure designs are implemented efficiently and effectively.
3. Technical Documentation: Produce comprehensive design specifications, assembly instructions, and manufacturing drawings to guide the production process.
4. Product Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date product definitions, and manage a detailed database of components and assemblies.
5. Quality Assurance: Oversee product compliance and quality standards, including reviewing engineering changes and managing nonconforming product concessions.
6. Continuous Improvement: Identify and resolve design challenges, conduct risk assessments, and compile failure analysis reports to drive ongoing product improvement.

What You Bring

1. Qualifications & Experience: A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in the design of heavy or rotating equipment.
2. Technical Skills: Strong CAD skills, with proficiency in both 2D and 3D design tools (AutoCAD and Inventor are a plus).
3. Problem-Solving Ability: A proactive approach to tackling complex technical challenges, with an emphasis on delivering practical solutions.
