Job description

KO2's client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. They are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who is passionate, driven, and ready for a challenge. If you have the ambition to make a difference, we want to hear from you.


The successful Mechanical Engineer will be joining a close knit, growing engineering team and will have the chance to work alongside a multidisciplinary team working towards a variety of new projects.


Responsibilities:
  1. Designing sheet metal enclosures and other components, including fascia (decals), product marking labels, bespoke plastic mouldings, and sub-assembly parts, ensuring cost-effectiveness, safety, and reliability.
  2. Creating and maintaining product assembly models using 3D CAD, and generate production assembly drawings and build instructions.
  3. Collaborate with production and suppliers to determine the best methods for manufacturing and assembly.
  4. Preparing and maintaining manufacturing drawings, production assembly documentation, and BOMs.
  5. Taking ownership of the documentation control and release process, and coordinate with the QA & Production departments on product improvements and modifications.
  6. Manage drawing files, revision status, and change records in line with ISO9001 & ISO14001 procedures.

Experience Required:
  1. 2-5 years' experience in a similar role within a design-for-manufacture environment.
  2. Proficiency with 3D CAD design and analysis software - SolidWorks 3D CAD.
  3. Hands-on experience with ERP systems (including creation of BOMs and parts) and MS Office tools.
  4. Strong technical knowledge, with the ability to apply this to practical problems.
  5. Understanding of cost, safety, and time constraints in design and manufacture.
  6. Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet-metal forming (CNC Punch, Laser, Bending, etc.).
