Working Pattern: Full time

Working location: Solihull

This position is being advertised to form a pipeline of candidates for current and future positions within Civil Aerospace; therefore, applicants should not expect feedback immediately. However, we will endeavor to review your CV in a timely manner.

What you will be doing

As a Performance Analyst within the Mechanical Control Units Design team, you will be part of a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to the design, development, and lifecycle support of aero-engine fuel system components. You will play a key role in translating functional requirements into analytical models to represent and derive the design characteristics of fuel pump elements or means of fuel flow and pressure control.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technologies in gas turbine design and to help shape the performance, efficiency, and reliability of Rolls-Royce products globally.

Why Rolls-Royce?

Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build, and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount.

It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum, we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

Responsibilities

We are recruiting candidates for both Fuel Pump Performance and Fuel Control Performance analysis. Potential tasks include:

  • Running a range of multi-physics fuel pump analytical models to look at the tribology of fuel pump bearings, bearing journal and thrust face loading, gear mesh cavitation, and fuel pressure distribution models.
  • Creating and maintaining fuel system analytical models to replicate the steady-state fuel control performance and size valves and metering profiles appropriately for the system requirements.
  • Deploying analytical techniques to optimize the stability of fuel control system operation.
  • Working with the Design Engineers to optimize the component sizing and geometry in line with the model output.
  • Providing technical support to in-service engine investigations and contributing to fleet issue resolution.
  • Participating in and contributing to research and technology projects aligned with future product development, working with university partners to help new model development.

Who we’re looking for:

At Rolls-Royce, we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple, and make a difference. These principles form the behaviors that guide us and are an essential component of our assessment process. They are the fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.
