Job description

The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) National Resilience (NR) CBRN(e) capability encompasses Detection, Identification, and Monitoring (DIM) and Mass Decontamination (MD) capabilities. The existing team of four officers works collaboratively to address CBRN(e) cross-capability challenges and ensure effective multi-agency interoperability.

As part of the Home Office Review of National Resilience Capabilities and Asset Refresh Programme, the MD Capability is renewing its PRPS PPE, which requires dedicated attention.

To support this, we are seeking an MD Capability Officer on secondment for 12 months to assist in delivering this critical work alongside the existing Station Manager.

The secondee’s specific responsibilities will depend on their skills, experience, and capacity but will broadly include:

  1. Managing assurance or training activities linked to PRPS implementation.
  2. Supporting wider MD capability work as required.
  3. Providing operational cover as part of National Resilience.

All activities will be undertaken under the oversight of the Group Manager to ensure alignment with National Resilience objectives.

The salary for this secondment is that of a Station Manager B.

Interviews will take place on Thursday 1st May 2025 at Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service Headquarters.
