Material Planning & Logistics Manager (MP & L Manager)
Reports to: Supply Chain Manager


In this position, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive supply chain strategy. You will be required to integrate advanced systems across planning, warehousing and material control. The objective is to ensure the profitable and efficient fulfilment of customer requirements whilst adhering to company policies and optimising production efficiency at the site. You will also be required to supervise and mentor direct reports and ensure the completion of daily tasks and effectively resolve operational challenges.


Your core responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing the SCM team to achieve profitable planning and manufacturing activities that align with both site and team objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation within the team to achieve high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Development and execution of long-term strategies (3-12 months) that contribute to site profitability.
  • Manage costs, inventory levels, data accuracy and stock strategy ensuring alignment with site objectives.
  • Establish team KPI baselines, monitor performance and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Conduct regular meetings with customers to assess and respond to requirements ensuring 100% on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery and build long term customer-supplier relationships.
  • Maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMS); and improve storage systems through data-driven solutions and lean principles.
  • Oversee the inventory check process to ensure stock levels are in line with company policy and lead initiatives to improve stock accuracy, reduce waste and enhance inventory management efficacy.
  • Implement and maintain performance baselines, ensuring continuous development of the team.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the team using lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
  • Ensure departmental output aligns with company objectives, whilst maintaining completion of daily tasks, reallocating resources as required and providing PDP opportunities to team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production and Quality to ensure smooth transitions and successful product launches.
  • Identify potential risks related to SCM, inventory management and customer satisfaction, developing and implementing mitigation strategies to minimise impact.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations and company policies ensuring health and safety, environmental standards, and ethical sourcing.
  • Review and implement new technologies and innovative practices within the SCM function through automation, data analytics and digital supply chain tools.

Profile and Qualifications:

  • Degree or relevant qualification in business, supply chain operations or any such related field.
  • Additional certifications in SCM such as CIPS or lean methodologies such as Six Sigma.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of planning processes in a similar role within Automotive, Aerospace or FMCG.
  • Proven experience using MRP / ERP software in a manufacturing and production planning environment with experience with complex supply chains. Experience with SAP HANA is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret & process numerical data with high attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in providing rational, logical decision-making skills with a strong ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven experience with MS Excel with confidence in using advanced functions (e.g. VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data analysis tools) to manipulate and present data effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both internal and external stakeholders including an international team.
  • Experience in leading and motivating teams, driving change and fostering a positive, performance-driven culture.
  • Proven experience of executing logical decision-making approaches.
