Materials Planner
Redditch
Up to £30,000 per annum DOE.


We are looking for a skilled and proactive Materials Planner to join our client’s team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that materials are supplied in accordance with production schedules while maintaining minimal stock levels to ensure smooth operations. Working with both internal and external teams to meet production demands, implement efficient solutions, and manage material supply effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule the supply of materials and components to align with production schedules while maintaining minimum safety stock levels.
  • Assess material volume requirements and ensure alignment with planning assumptions.
  • Manage day-to-day orders and supplier delivery scheduling.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to minimise production schedule disruptions.
  • Address material shortages affecting production and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Implement processes to agreed standards and support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for optimisation.
  • Manage the scheduling of bought-in goods and ensure proper control of import documentation when necessary.
  • Transfer materials from external warehouses, raise and book in Purchase Orders as required.
  • Conduct inventory checks to validate stock accuracy.
  • Minimise obsolete stock to reduce potential business liabilities.
  • Create regular statistical reports and analyses to update the business.
  • Build collaborative relationships with all internal departments to ensure smooth material supply processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Solid commercial and financial awareness, understanding the impact of material failure on costs, production time, and customer order fulfilment.
  • Results-oriented, with strong planning and organisational abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
  • Previous experience with IT systems such as Sage, WMS, or Supplier Portals is an advantage.
