Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Material Planning Coordinator will report to the Material Value Stream Manager in a high-growth, change-oriented, dynamic and tactical work environment. The Material Planning Coordinator will be accountable for executing, issuing and controlling MRP production schedules and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials to meet production requirements; while ensuring MRP requirements, integrity, and accuracy are maintained. The material planning coordinator will utilize our MRP system, support peers; interface with internal customers with respect to production planning, problem resolution, process improvement, monitoring, and prioritizing workload.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Shop Floor Execution:
- Serve as the primary interface between Production Management, first line supervision, Material Control Specialists (MCS), and Production Support personnel to ensure on-time delivery of materials to the assigned production area(s).
- Perform line audits to identify material availability risks including, but not limited to reorder malfunctions, material obsolescence; and lost, misplaced, or misdirected material.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels on shop floor in accordance with MRP for assigned production line.
- Collaborate with production engineering, quality, technicians, and operations supervision to ensure an adequate supply of material is available to support the production schedule and line movement.
- Effectively collaborate with key process stakeholders to ensure on-time execution of the Manufacturing Delivery Schedule.
- Accurately status work order progress and material consumption using MRP system and post goods to stock or transact product to next manufacturing process.
- Prepare and process documents such as release requests, shipping documents, material requests, move tags, etc. for department.
- Ensure that acceptable productivity standards are maintained.
Demand Management:- Review and communicate potential material cost and production impact of engineering change orders (ECOs); with a focus on preventing new and reducing existing inventory obsolescence.
- Ensure accurate shop floor supply by establishing, monitoring, and/or validating MRP system inputs to prevent stockouts.
- Modify and adjust shop floor plan for every part (PFEP) to meet production schedule.
- Correlate and analyze information from various departments, considering such factors as availability, customer specification, delivery requirement, lead time, shop capacity, inventory levels and lot sizing.
Material Flow Management:- Be responsible for enacting of material status reports used in the evaluation of all phases of the ordering, tracking and manufacturing processing.
- Coordinate and expedite flow of materials, parts, and assemblies between departments, according to manufacturing schedules and troubleshoot material bottlenecks.
- Review stockout performance, investigate schedule impact, and recommend corrective action(s).
- Communicate and action production related material constraints to material planner.
- Enact timely execution of non-confirming material process to maintain balance of material supply/demand.
Material Risk Management:- Engage with Supply Chain (Warehouse, MCS, etc.) to establish/maintain vendor managed inventory (VMI) and manage material flow to the production floor.
- Facilitate shop floor cycle counting and provide results for reconciliation.
- Must have understanding of planning reports and metrics to interpret and drive corrective action(s).
Skills Required:
- Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with stakeholders and customers at all levels.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word and Excel, Outlook) and basic proficiency with Power Point.
Experience Required:
- 1+ years of relevant experience in Operations or Supply Chain.
- Experience in Defense, Aerospace and/or manufacturing work environment.
Education Required:
- Associate’s Degree in a technical or business related discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business related discipline.
