Job Title: Material Planner
Location: Havant
Contract Type: Temporary (6 months, with potential extension)
Starting: May 2025
Hourly Rate: Up to £19.50 per hour
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Material Planner to join our team starting in May 2025. This six-month plus temporary role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in supply chain and production planning while managing key materials and inventory to ensure smooth production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Parts Planning: Manage current and future demand requirements in collaboration with manufacturing and supplier teams to ensure customer needs are met on time.
- Data Management: Ensure planning data parameters (e.g., order policies, lead times, safety stock) are accurately entered and regularly reviewed in the ERP system.
- Material Scheduling: Expedite materials where necessary to meet shortfalls and maintain accurate documentation and system transactions for material allocation.
- Analysis & Reporting: Analyse production data and prepare reports to facilitate supply chain operation, inventory management, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Inventory Control: Review inventory planning parameters regularly to reduce costs and improve service levels and ensure documentation is always ready for internal and external audits.
- Collaboration: Work with Supply Chain and Production teams to manage ramp-up/down plans, resolve invoice queries, and assist with cost increases or approvals.
- ERP System: Maintain the accuracy of the item mastercard and related planning data to drive optimal MRP processing.
Key Metrics:
- Supplier On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Inventory Days on Hand (DOH)
- Material Shortages
Proficiency in SAP and ERP systems would be beneficial.
Strong understanding of production and inventory management.
Excellent proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
Requirements:
- Ability to work within defined parameters and make decisions to resolve issues of moderate complexity.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor, assess, and optimise material requirements and relevant experience regarding supply chain performance.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Although experience is required, formal qualifications are not.
