Job description

Marketing Strategy Director AFRS
Location: Bristol

This is a career-defining marketing opportunity, working on a history-changing contract.

For the first time ever, all 3 UK Armed Forces have joined together in their recruitment. Join TMP and help deliver groundbreaking, award-winning, multi-channel brand and recruitment marketing solutions for the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Airforce.

As part of a Serco-led consortium, TMP has been awarded the contract to deliver all marketing for UK Armed Forces recruitment. This joint initiative is known as the Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS). Running until 2037, this contract offers an unrivalled opportunity to make a long-term, positive impact on the UK Armed Forces - and on the security of everyone they serve.

The Role

You'll design, develop and evolve a world-class marketing strategy for the British Armed Forces. It's a phenomenal - and unique - opportunity to help transform the defence of the nation.

It starts with focusing on the transition phase of the contract. Over this first 21 months, your priorities will include building strong relationships with the Serco consortium partner agencies, and with Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force stakeholders to understand their challenges, goals and audience groups. Developing the initial 2-year marketing strategy, you'll collaborate with our creative, data and planning teams to develop campaigns and channel activation strategies ready to launch in 2027.

As the go-to person for marketing strategy, you'll inspire stakeholder confidence in our approach. And, after the transition phase, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Working closely with all parts of the Armed Forces and the Serco consortium to ensure marketing strategies drive pipelines across all areas.
  2. Devising niche marketing strategies to supply hard to fill pipelines shortages.
  3. Developing ongoing marketing strategy, optimisation and innovation approaches to deliver continuous improvement and success.
Who we're looking for

An experienced strategy leader, you're a confident networker with the gravitas and ability to sell complex strategic marketing solutions. You're no stranger to working within multi-skilled teams, and you always take a structured approach.

You'll bring:

  1. Expertise of building long-term complex and multichannel marketing strategies.
  2. Expertise of executing marketing strategies across both brand and recruitment.
  3. Deep understanding of B2C and B2B marketing strategies both above and below the line.
  4. Deep understanding of how to convert consumer insight into actionable strategy.
  5. Strong understanding of data, media and the role of channel.
  6. Experience of developing digital, social and technology-enabled brand solutions and targeted campaign activations.
  7. Ability to navigate and work effectively across complex matrix management structures, working with and influencing partner organisations.

Please note, this role will require full SC clearance.
