Marketing Manager; Exhibitions

Hybrid: London office 2 days

Reporting to: Portfolio Director

Reporting into the Portfolio Director for the Baby & Toddler Shows, we are seeking a dedicated Exhibition Marketing Manager to lead and deliver forward-thinking and results-driven marketing campaigns across the 5 shows each year.

Job Description:

The Marketing Manager is responsible for the delivery of the marketing and communications plans for Kerrison Exhibitions’ Baby & Toddler Shows. This individual will be a competent event marketer, with experience in managing a team, budget management and working across the full marketing mix. This role requires excellent organisational, project management and communication skills, as well as excellent attention to detail, the ability to consistently produce high quality work within deadlines and a commitment to fully understanding a target customer.

Role & Responsibilities:

  1. Campaign management
  • Plan, implement and evaluate the marketing campaigns including advertising, digital marketing, design, PR and partnerships to drive visitor numbers.
  • Creating and managing campaign schedules to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Operating as the brand manager; issuing brand guidelines which are in line with expectations, and applying them in all marketing communications.
  • Oversee the organisation of promotional activities, ensuring they are carried out efficiently and within agreed budgets.
  • Develop, manage, monitor, maintain and regularly review relationships with key suppliers and partners to ensure highest levels of service are continuously delivered.
  • Management of databases and list development: curating lists of desirable target attendees in different segments.
  • Supporting the sales team to drive stand & sponsorship sales.
  • Optimise the marketing budget to ensure the budget is spent effectively, with full responsibility for tracking spend and return.
  • Lead negotiation with all key suppliers to ensure highest levels of delivery most cost-effectively.
  • Has the creative ability to further develop business opportunities and to launch new initiatives.
  • Attend competitor events and other industry events to help maintain relationships, expand the database and generate new business.
  • Planning and analysis
    • Evaluate customer research and market conditions, including competitor landscape to set the marketing strategy, in conjunction with the Portfolio Director.
    • Assess, monitor and improve marketing efficiency by conducting regular analysis of marketing KPIs, reporting on campaign results to elevate success.
    • Work in partnership with internal teams including marketing, sales, operations and finance.
    • Identify visitor and exhibitor needs and make recommendations for event improvements.
    • Manage a thorough post-show analysis, providing recommendations for improvements.
    • Promote a culture of testing and change to continuously drive improvement.
  • Reporting
    • Production and circulation of campaign activity, performance, and effectiveness reports.
    • Provide accurate visitor number and revenue forecasts.
    • Lead on status meetings with Portfolio Director.
    • Timely production of post-show reports and ad hoc reports for meetings and presentations.

    Knowledge, skills, attitude and behaviour:

    • A successful track record of planning and implementing integrated marketing campaigns.
    • Sound knowledge of database segmentation.
    • Digital marketing competence, specifically, email expertise, targeting a mobile oriented audience, integrated social media and the use of PPC and SEO as part of an audience development campaign.
    • Commercially aware.
    • Successful team management experience.
    • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
    • Budget management.
    • Solid understanding of marketing strategy and how this is applied to events.
    • Literate and numerate with good communication and copywriting skills.
    • High level analytical skills.
    • Energetic, enthusiastic, confident, and self-motivated.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Ability to work as a team player.
    • Hard working and honest with a ‘can do’ attitude.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and work comfortably under pressure.
