About Thames Freeport

Thames Freeport is a transformational economic initiative, driving investment, innovation, and trade in the region. As we continue to expand our impact, we are seeking a Marketing, Events & Community Engagement Coordinator to support our growing calendar of industry and community events, as well as enhance our digital communications strategy.

NOTE: This is a 12 month FTC.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, this new role will be instrumental in delivering a high-profile event programme, building community engagement, and increasing our social media presence. You will be responsible for planning and executing business and community events, liaising with key stakeholders, and ensuring our communications strategy reaches businesses, local authorities, and the local community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Event Planning & Strategic Engagement
  1. Coordinate logistics for Thames Freeport events, including venue booking, supplier management, and invitation handling.
  2. Assist in planning and delivering industry events, including trade shows, trade delegations, conferences, and promotional activities.
  3. Develop and manage stakeholder communications, ensuring engagement with businesses, local authorities, and community groups.
  4. Provide on-site support at events, managing stand space, handling enquiries, and ensuring smooth execution.
  5. Conduct post-event reporting, collect feedback, and provide insights for future improvements.
2. Community Engagement & Partnerships
  1. Support the delivery of the community engagement strategy, fostering relationships with local community groups.
  2. Help organise and manage local events in partnership with community organisations and businesses.
  3. Coordinate and administer community engagement forums and steering groups.
  4. Work closely with stakeholders to ensure Thames Freeport is seen as a trusted, transformational initiative that delivers benefits for local communities.
3. Social Media & Digital Communications
  1. Develop engaging digital content to promote Freeport initiatives, events, and partnerships.
  2. Increase visibility of Thames Freeport through social media campaigns, live event coverage, and post-event summaries.
  3. Manage stakeholder interactions on social media platforms, ensuring positive engagement with businesses and the local community.
  4. Monitor and report on social media analytics, adjusting strategies to maximise engagement.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive individual with a passion for event management, stakeholder engagement, and digital marketing. The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Experience in event planning, marketing, communications, or community engagement.
  2. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  3. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with business stakeholders and community groups.
  4. Social media and content creation experience, with an understanding of digital engagement strategies.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong problem-solving mindset.
  6. Driving license and live in the Thames Freeport region (Barking and Dagenham, Havering, or Thurrock)
