DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Film4 Productions is Channel 4 Television's feature film division. Film4 develops and co-finances films and is known for working with the most distinctive and innovative talent in UK and international filmmaking, both new and established. Since its inception in 1982, Film4's films have won a collective 43 Oscars and 97 BAFTAs.

JOB PURPOSE
Film4 is seeking an experienced marketing professional with a deep understanding of the film industry who will work across Film4's entire slate of films to maximise audience reach and brand visibility. They will be responsible for delivering Film4 campaigns and events throughout the year and should bring proven experience in B2B & B2C marketing and event management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing
  • Track, report and feedback on marketing materials & upcoming release plans of Film4 productions.
  • Liaise with distributors and sales agents on distribution plans of Film4 productions.
  • Shape Film4's social media activity, working with departments across Channel 4 to create and schedule content.
  • Work as main point of contact for multiple teams across Channel 4 on cross-departmental promotional activity.
  • Identify opportunities for brand partnerships and marketing collaborations to amplify the reach of our distribution campaigns.
  • Commission, brief in and sign off on-air promos, campaigns and marketing materials.
  • Oversee Film4's external sponsorship relationships.
  • Work closely with Film4's Corporate Communications Manager.
Festivals & Events
  • Work closely with Head of Distribution & Sales on shaping festival strategy for Film4 titles.
  • Build and manage effective relationships with film festival programmers.
  • Track submission of Film4 titles to key festivals and keep team abreast of festival deadlines.
  • Manage Film4's significant Cannes presence, including the Cannes office and events.
  • Manage key UK-based events for Film4, hospitality events for stakeholders and other high-profile events around awards and festivals.
  • Manage ad hoc events, e.g. awards screenings, test screenings, internal screenings.
Distribution
  • Work closely with Head of Distribution & Sales on managing relationships with international sales agents and distributors.
  • Support filmmakers on all distribution and marketing-related activity throughout their film's lifecycle.
  • Track competitive distribution landscape, especially in the US and UK.
  • Lead on the execution of Film4's shorts strategy.
  • Read scripts and attend test screenings of Film4 titles to provide feedback on marketing and distribution potential.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Proven experience in a marketing or distribution role in the film industry.
  • Deep understanding of the film industry and the production lifecycle.
  • Sound understanding of the film festival landscape.
  • Proven experience delivering marketing materials and/or campaigns to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience organising events, including large-scale events with VIP guests.
  • Experience with digital media campaigns.
  • Enthusiasm for social media trends and grassroots marketing activity.
  • Ability to multi-task and collaborate with a wide range of departments.
  • Keen understanding of Film4's aims and brand.
  • Existing relationships with UK-based distributors, sales agents and PR/creative agencies.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Experience with on-set publicity and marketing.

This role is advertised as a secondment meaning that if successful you would move into this role for a defined time period.
