Job description

The post holder will report to the Shift Team Leader for routine operational matters and to the Manufacturing Manager for all other issues. This is a factory-based role, requiring the post holder to be standing for most of the working day. Moderate physical effort will be required and will include bending, lifting and the operation of basic manual handling. The post involves basic documentation, which requires accuracy and attention to detail at all times. The post holder will be required to work within clearly defined processes and procedures when manufacturing our wide range of high quality healthcare and pharmaceutical bulk products, the post holder will operate in accordance with Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), Product Formula Sheets and product specifications and standards, whilst ensuring full compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Health and Safety regulations.

Following training, the key duties of the post are as follows:

1. Manufacture bulk products from a variety of raw materials following BMRs.
2. Manufacture bulk products in batch sizes up to five tonnes.
3. Dispense raw materials following Product Formula Sheets.
4. Adjust product parameters (e.g., pH level, viscosity, colour, etc.) when necessary as per product specifications.
5. Set up connections between vessels to enable both hot and cold liquid transfers.
6. Unload bulk products and calculate yields.
7. Ensure batches are produced on time, and in accordance with product specifications and standards.
8. Ensure manufacturing vessels are kept clean and any faults are reported immediately so corrective action can be taken.
9. Operate electric powered pallet/stacker truck.
10. Be responsible and accountable for completion of own BMRs.
11. Ensure documentation is accurately maintained and relevant information communicated as appropriate.
12. Liaise with other departments to organise storage of finished batches when necessary.
13. Enhance safety, quality and efficiency.
14. Ensure that all operations are performed in a safe way, and safe working practices are followed at all times.
15. Maintain high standards of GMP at all times.
16. Carry out any other reasonable duties at the request of the Technical Compounder/Manufacturing Manager.
17. Be available for weekend and out of hours work if and when the business dictates.
18. Support the Shift Team Leader in providing on-the-job training for new recruits.
