Manufacturing Managers with a background in Solid Dose Pharmaceuticals are invited to explore an exciting opportunity to join a client looking to expand their manufacturing area.
This role is responsible for leading and managing the manufacturing operation and coordinating production resources at their production facility in Hatfield.
- Organize the manufacturing operation for the reliable, efficient, and compliant production of pharmaceutical products.
- Establish appropriate procedures and systems for the routine operation of all manufacturing activities.
- Define and own manufacturing’s key production performance indicators, implementing corrective, preventative, or continuous improvement activities to address any adverse trends.
- Recruit, train, and manage a manufacturing workforce.
Operations must be conducted in accordance with Corporate Standards, Quality System, GMP and GDP Guidelines, and Industry Standards while supporting the Continuous Improvement process.

This position has working relationships with the following:
- Manufacturing operators to lead, manage, and coordinate operations.
- Production planning to ensure smooth planning of operations.
- Production management to manage the entire operation cohesively.
- Supply chain to build a long-term plan and understand the 5-year forecast strategically.
- Finance to ensure the manufacturing operation remains within budget and profitable.
- Engineering to ensure maintenance and corrective activities are planned, managed, and resourced.
- Technical to support new production introduction, lifecycle management, and improvement activities.
- Quality Operations to ensure compliance of the manufacturing operation.
- Warehouse to maintain strong links between areas.
Details of responsibilities:
- Ensure the manufacturing operation is fully resourced to cover the planned volume, including recruitment of staff.
- Ensure the training of manufacturing operators is fit for purpose and proactively planned.
- Lead, manage, motivate, develop, and coach manufacturing staff to meet business needs and objectives.
- Set objectives for the manufacturing operation for each staff member aligned with company objectives.
- Define, own, and act upon manufacturing’s key performance indicators to keep the operation safe, compliant, and profitable.
- Ensure safety through management EHS training and risk assessments for manufacturing operations.
- Work with the Production Management team to lead production as a whole.
- Represent production in internal, customer, and regulatory audits and inspections.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for cost savings and efficient operations.
- Coordinate production cleaners to maintain a clean facility.
- Participate in the installation, qualification, and validation of new manufacturing equipment.
- Liaise with Planning to develop and maintain production schedules.
- Investigate EMS alarms and conduct testing.
- Minimize manufacturing downtime to maximize productivity.
- Prepare to take on roles of First Aider, Safety Rep, and Fire Warden.
- Conduct investigations into deviations, incidents, or complaints and ensure CAPAs are completed timely.
- Participate in departmental budget development and control expenditures.
- Support the Production Manager in long-term strategic planning for the Production function.
- Support and input into the 5-year plan to keep the manufacturing operation fit for purpose.
- Provide support and cover to the Packaging Shift Managers.
- Act as a delegate for the Production Manager.
Performs any other responsibilities at the request of the Production Manager.
- Significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry in an operational environment, with proven supervisory achievements.
- Good technical writing skills.
- Computer literate (MS Office suite) and ideally knowledgeable in SAP.
- Familiarity with MHRA guidance for packaging and manufacturing operations, cGMP, and H&S regulations.
