An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer – Capability Acquisition to join the Regen Programme within Submarines.

The Role

This is an opportunity to join the Regen Programme at a critical point. In this role, you will be defining the requirements for new technology acquisitions, liaising with the supply chain and laying the foundations for process development.

You will execute engineering activities to deliver new technology and capability to meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate, and lead time (SQCD). Interface across multiple teams to ensure that technology solutions are aligned to existing strategies.

What you will be doing:

With this exciting opportunity, you will be involved in the following:

  • HSE - Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Health, Safety & Environmental Standards, and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.
  • Product Safety - Ensure that manufacturing processes can achieve and sustain the design intent, and that processes are followed so that our products and those of our suppliers conform to their specification. Rigorously raise, investigate, and resolve safety-related issues.
  • Quality - Drive a culture of zero defects within the organisation. Work with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance with all relevant company, legislative, and technical policies and standards including RRMS, SABRe, and Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements.
  • Requirements - Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes, digital systems, and technologies to meet current or future requirements.
  • Develop Capability - Develop, implement, validate, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems, and/or methods of manufacture which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate, and lead time. Capture, analyse, and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing - Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required. Capture and utilise lessons learnt. Identify, document, and share best practices, including by participation in relevant Communities of Practice.
  • Build external relationships - Operate beneficial relationships with partners and suppliers to enable delivery of their objectives.

  • Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g., UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent)
  • Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g., UK IEng or CEng) where available
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to their business
  • General awareness of Manufacturing Systems and enabling software tools relevant to the business
  • Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes relevant to their role

The professional level and the salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
