Join a Team Driving Manufacturing Excellence

Are you a skilled Manufacturing Engineer eager to make your mark in a collaborative, improvement-focused team? Hays in Lincoln is exclusively partnering with an innovative client to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer to support a transformative journey. Reporting to the Principal Manufacturing Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, optimising, and implementing processes that set new standards for efficiency and quality.

This is your chance to join a tight-knit team under a Principal Manufacturing Engineer, contributing to a manufacturing transformation from the ground up. With a competitive salary of £45,000 (and flexibility for standout experience), you'll have the opportunity to hone your Lean Six Sigma expertise, support automation advancements, and make a tangible impact.

Our client's operation is ready for your skills to help turn ideas into action.

About the Opportunity

Our client, a forward-thinking business in Lincoln, operates a purpose-built facility with a manufacturing team of around 30 individuals. Their production is based on manufacturing cells, blending manual processes with some automation-and they're poised for significant advancement. As part of a dedicated team led by the Principal Manufacturing Engineer, you'll help strengthen existing processes and support new product introductions, with a sharp focus on Lean Six Sigma and operational excellence.

The Role

Working alongside the Principal Manufacturing Engineer, you'll contribute to a full overhaul of current manufacturing procedures, conducting PFMEAs to address inefficiencies and designing solutions that enhance performance. You'll also support the integration of automation and collaborate with R&D and operations to ensure seamless process handovers, all while embedding Lean principles into everything you do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Design & Implementation: Support the development and rollout of efficient manufacturing processes, including tooling design, with a focus on scalability and Lean principles.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Engineering team to optimise processes and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to refine existing processes, reducing waste and boosting safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Automation Support: Assist in identifying and implementing automation solutions to enhance efficiency in a medium-volume assembly environment.
  • Process Validation: Validate new processes, create work instructions, risk assessments, and control documentation to ensure compliance and consistency.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day

  • Design and implement manufacturing processes and tooling under the guidance of the Principal Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Conduct PFEMAs and support the team in resolving process challenges.
  • Collaborate with R&D and operations to integrate manufacturing considerations into new products.
  • Contribute to automation projects, helping to reduce reliance on manual processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma tools.

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role, designing and optimising processes for small to medium-volume assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and operational excellence principles, with practical application in a production setting.
  • Experience supporting automation initiatives to improve efficiency is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and process simulation tools is advantageous.
  • A solid understanding of safety and quality standards in manufacturing.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with good problem-solving skills.

If you're ready to collaborate, innovate, and drive change in a supportive team, we want to hear from you.
