Working within the Engineering Team (with Planning and Material Control Oversight), the Manufacturing Engineer role will be responsible for creating part numbers and associated kit part numbers and structures from approved engineering drawings. You will be proactive and forward thinking with regard to how the parts and structures are defined to fulfil the customer expected configuration requirements of the aircraft.
You will check for part applicability and validity and support engineering with defining and detailing the most current and up to date parts.
You will be a key participant in the weekly change board meeting to discuss and determine the suitability of any requested changes and agree the acceptance and incorporation, if approved. When necessary you will lead the Change Board meeting, engaging with all applicable departments and representatives.
You will be part of a cross functional team with an objective to deliver all materials associated to multiple customer reconfiguration programmes. The extended team includes Material Control and Asset Management who share the same deliverable objective.
You will feedback into the wider team any such issues or concerns that may jeopardise programme deliverables. The wider team or Integrated Project Team (IPT) consists of Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Programme Management. You will establish and control the parts requirements in support of our projects and see them through to delivery to the customers.
This role requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to communicate status efficiently to all levels of personnel. You will need to have a good understanding of engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOM).
Responsibilities:
Required Experience:
Recognised Bachelors (or higher) degree in an engineering discipline OR minimum of 5 years applicable experience as a Manufacturing Engineer / Planning Engineer within aerospace (preferred), automotive or other engineering and manufacturing environment.
Work Authorisation:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the UK. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants.
Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll. This position does not have relocation approval.
