Job description

Work hours: 37 hours per week, 3-Shift-System

Location: Hillsborough, Sheffield

Job type: Permanent, Full-time

Reporting to the Machine Shop Manager, you will be responsible for setting up machines according to customer requirements and health and safety procedures. This also includes inspecting components before and after machining as well as maintaining accurate identification against route cards and good housekeeping of work areas.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Setting up machines according to best practise.
  2. Work accurately to customer requirements.
  3. Able to read engineering drawings.
  4. Ability to operate manual Vertical Borers.
  5. Ability to operate manual Big Lathes.
  6. Use measuring equipment.
  7. Working on own initiative without supervision, ensuring production of quality machined parts.
  8. Appropriate preparation on commencement of machining.

Skills and Experience:

  1. A fully skilled machinist who displays competence and accuracy in all machining processes including work handling and own personal health and safety.
  2. Able to read engineering drawings.
  3. Work on your own initiative.
  4. Ability to operate CNC machines.
  5. Use measuring equipment.
  6. Organised and self-motivated personality.
  7. Proactive and forward-thinking individual.

Qualifications:

  1. A recognised Craft Apprenticeship.
  2. Educated to 5 GCSE’s A-S including Maths and English.
