Job description

Elvet Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a main contractor for an exciting opportunity for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their team working on remediation and water infrastructure frameworks.


The contractor has a big name in the industry for delivering quality results for clients across the UK. They are looking to add to the team with the addition of a Managing Quantity Surveyor to overlook the Gaforth, Sheffield, and Hartlepool offices for the time being.


This is a hybrid role with the opportunity to work from home.


Responsibilities:

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with the Commercial Manager to:

  1. To liaise with the operational management and advise on all matters relating to Contract and Commercial issues on allocated projects.
  2. To manage and maintain accurate financial and commercial control systems.
  3. To manage 12 more junior members of staff across 3 different offices.
  4. To ensure all allocated projects produce an accurate monthly Cost/Value Reconciliation.
  5. To liaise with and advise on all financial aspects of contracts, ensuring that valuations are maximised, certified, and paid on time.
  6. To monitor progress on site and take a lead in issuing required notices in accordance with contract procedures and timescales.
  7. To prepare forecasts of cost and value of all trades including Preliminaries, monitor and report on the same.
  8. To prepare Preliminaries budgets in association with contract staff, monitor and report on the same.
  9. To ensure that all quotations are carefully vetted and comply with the specification ensuring that the most competitive bids are obtained.
  10. To ensure that monthly meetings are held to agree variations and not left to the final account stage.
  11. To assist with estimating as and when required.
  12. To ensure that quotations for additional works are accurate and received on time.

Requirements:
  1. Degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent
  2. CSCS card
  3. IT literacy including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email
  4. Verbal and written communication skills
  5. Basic Health & Safety skills
  6. Budget compilation and management
  7. Analytical & problem-solving skills
  8. Ability to chair meetings
  9. Negotiating skills
  10. Objective setting
  11. Management experience
