Title: Managing Quantity Surveyor

Location: Cardiff or Swansea

Salary: £80,000 to £85,000 + Car allowance £5k + package

Sector: New build Residential & Commercial Main Contractor

Start Date: Immediate

Managing Quantity Surveyor - The Company:

Our client is a successful main contractor specialising across residential and commercial sectors with an established reputation within the South Wales market and beyond. Typical projects are medium to large scale social housing new build projects with associated buildings and also commercial refurbishment and new build projects.

Managing Quantity Surveyor - The Role:

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or existing Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the regional commercial team. You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day commercial aspects of the business and the portfolio of new build residential developments, overseeing an existing team of Quantity Surveyors.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

1. To ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for all projects
2. Lead and manage the commercial team in mentoring, training and development
3. Prepare the cost/value reconciliation reports accurately
4. Prepare and agree interim valuations at the agreed dates to gain the best commercial advantage for the company
5. Agree final accounts with subcontractors to maximise project margins
6. Ensure sub contract orders are prepared in accordance with company procedure
7. Maintain control of subcontractor's accounts and minimise the cost of any variations
8. Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence
9. To carry out duties as quantity surveyor on projects as instructed
10. Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts as directed by line manager

Managing Quantity Surveyor - The Person:

Experienced SQS, MQS or Commercial Manager with solid experience in main contracting (not developer) and specific experience in new build residential projects beneficial. Demonstrable experience of delivering projects within budget and proven experience in managing more junior quantity surveyors. Innovative with the ability to identify better ways of doing things. A good team player, someone who wants to be part of a growing business to achieve common goals. Commutable to Cardiff or Swansea and to projects in South Wales.
