A highly ranked law firm in London is looking for a 6+ PQE Managing Associate to join its Financial Services Regulatory team in London. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take a leading role in shaping the growth of the retail financial services practice, with strong prospects for career progression. Flexible working arrangements are available for this role.
The Role:
The firm is seeking lawyers with a strong interest in specialising in retail financial services, including consumer credit, mortgages, retail banking, and payments regulation. The team boasts an outstanding reputation in this sector, advising banks, building societies, and specialist lenders on the full range of regulatory matters affecting their business.
You should expect to work on these sorts of areas:
- Assist clients in developing new products and services, providing comprehensive regulatory support from product structuring and agreement drafting to communications and detailed system builds.
- Guide clients through regulatory challenges when things don’t go as planned, assessing potential issues and advising on effective remediation strategies.
- Support clients in implementing regulatory requirements, including BNPL, consumer credit, and payments reform, as well as advising on ongoing compliance with Consumer Duty and consumer law.
In addition to the technical work on matters, you will also take on these roles:
- Work closely with Partners to manage and mentor junior team members, providing coaching and guidance to support their technical and professional growth.
- Lead client training sessions and speak at conferences and events, offering insights on regulatory developments.
- Collaborate with Partners to define the team’s strategy, drive growth in specialist practice areas, and engage in business development to expand the retail financial services practice.
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society registered) with 6+ years’ PQE, specialising in financial regulation within retail financial services or payments.
- Proven experience in business development, maintaining strong client relationships and supervising or managing team members.
- Excellent communication abilities, capable of providing strategic advice to clients with minimal supervision and an active senior member committed to the firm’s growth locally and nationally.
