Pokémon was launched in Japan in 1996 and today is one of the most popular children's entertainment properties in the world.

  • Job Title: Manager, Trade Compliance Europe
  • Job Summary: The Manager, Trade Compliance Europe will be responsible for overseeing The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) compliance efforts across the European region. This role will manage day-to-day compliance challenges and contribute to long term European growth strategy. This role will also be responsible for tracking emerging regulatory developments and trends across the region and working cross-functionally to develop strategic responses to ensure effective compliance.

What you’ll do
  • Manage Europe Trade Compliance program and day-to-day operations, reporting to Sr. Manager, Global Trade Compliance (located in Bellevue, US office).
  • Manage the relationship with customs brokers in the European region to ensure timely and accurate customs clearances.
  • Lead European broker evaluations and business reviews and conduct broker and supplier document audits for accuracy of information submitted to customs agencies.
  • Review and ensure that The Pokémon Company International products are classified properly for import (HTS) and include correct country of origin determination.
  • Provide European trade compliance training for internal and external partners.
  • Establish and execute European regional and country-specific operations, implement and enhance regional trade compliance organizational policies and procedures.
  • Review / audit program performance annually, recommending operational efficiencies where valuable.
  • Serve as escalation point for resolution of a wide variety of trade compliance issues across The Pokémon Company International business functions and logistics channels.
  • Research, monitor, and provide summary of emerging Tax and Customs regulatory changes across the region; assist in the development of strategic cross-functional response.
  • Monitor and serve as primary escalation point for inquiries from HMRC and EU Customs authorities and/or company partners/suppliers.
  • Assist with new market entry efforts.
  • Define systems and process improvements across the business and develop a system to track and manage key data for trade compliance inputs.
  • Work effectively across multiple time zones.
What you’ll bring
  • Six+ (6+) years of relevant professional experience, plus one (1) year of management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a demonstrated equivalent level of applicable experience.
  • Technical experience with Europe customs and tax regulations.
  • Meaningful experience in multiple European countries, or cross-border intra-EU preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, including an ability to effectively communicate across all levels and functions of an organization.
  • Strong experience with project management and cross-functional presentation.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, execution, and delivery of projects.
  • Knowledge of purchasing processes (SOP's, PO's, SO’s, etc.).
  • Key technical areas of focus include: import/export filing and registration requirements; product liability and labeling requirements; Customs/Tax reporting requirements; PGA qualification/applicability; HS classification; country of origin, product valuation; special trade programs; VAT tax considerations; INCOTERMS; recordkeeping requirements; e-commerce specific regulation, among others.
  • Ability to drive change with a long term perspective across multiple functions and transform the business.
  • English language fluency required. Knowledge of other European languages is a plus, but not essential.
  • Team player, fast learner, self-motivated, result-oriented.
  • Oracle GTM experience preferred.
Base Salary Range:

For this role, new hires generally start between £69,000.00 - £81,937.50 per year. The full range is £69,000.00 - £103,500.00 per year. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. The final base salary is directly related to the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
