Manager / Senior Manager

A leading accountancy firm in West Sussex is looking for an ambitious manager or senior manager to join their spangly offices in Horsham. They are the fastest-growing accountancy firm in Sussex, with multiple offices looking after thousands of businesses and individuals across the county, providing the full array of specialist accountancy, taxation, payroll, advisory, and financial planning services. This could be a full-time or part-time role and offers huge opportunities for long-term growth.

You will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients, including limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, and personal tax, taking responsibility for accounting, tax, and business planning. Additionally, you will manage, train, and mentor teams to help deliver the required services to clients.

Role Responsibilities:

• Managing a varied portfolio of clients
• Managing client expectations and updating clients with costs and time estimations
• Meeting with new and existing clients on a regular basis
• Willingness to share knowledge and invest in the development of junior members of staff
• Managing teams to deliver all services
• Coordinating and reviewing the work with assistant managers and trainee accountants
• Mentoring & managing assistant managers and trainee accountants
• Assisting with on-the-job training of junior members of staff and identifying areas in need of improvement or further development
• Preparing complex year-end accounts, management accounts, and VAT returns
• Reviewing accounts and management accounts prepared by the team
• Ensuring company accounts are prepared in accordance with financial reporting and accounting standards
• Reviewing corporation tax returns
• Preparing personal tax returns
• Liaising directly with HMRC as required
• Compiling reports, budget plans, commentaries, and financial statements
• Analyzing accounts and business plans
• Financial forecasting and risk analysis

The successful applicant will be ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong knowledge of accounting for SMEs, including corporate tax, VAT, PAYE, and personal tax. You will have previous experience supervising junior members of staff.
