This position will be preferably domiciled in The Woodlands, TX, but other locations in the Entergy service territory may be considered based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Responsible for managing the project engineering team that is responsible for managing the detailed engineering and design of major strategic capital projects that range in value of $20 million to $2 billion dollars. Represents Entergy’s interest in managing external engineering and construction firms that in the execution of engineering, procurement and construction contracts. Directs and coordinates Entergy engineering staff personnel in the review and approval of project engineering decisions, designs and alternatives developed by engineering and construction firms.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversight of engineering, procurement and construction firm activities to assure that project engineering, design and procurement is performed in accordance to project specifications, design criteria, permits, codes and standards.
  2. Oversight and coordination of the services of engineering firms serving in the Owner’s Engineer role in projects.
  3. Coordination the review and approval of project engineering, design and procurement activities including evaluation of alternatives, concurrence and approval of recommendations.
  4. Coordinating the review and approval of project design drawings from the engineering and construction firm and/or the equipment manufacturer.
  5. Oversight of the engineering and design process to assure schedule compliance and contract compliance.
  6. Takes direction from the project director or project manager for assigned projects.
  7. Oversight for the corrective action program.
  8. Leads the execution of the MISO generation interconnection agreements with the project teams.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering

Minimum experience required of the position

  1. 15 years experience in the engineering/design of industrial facilities.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  1. Must be educated, experienced and capable of making decisions that may result in a substantial financial impact to the company.
  2. Must be an excellent communicator, skills in managing large outside engineering firms.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Desired:

  1. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  2. Professional Engineer (PE) License

WORKING CONDITIONS

As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.
