Job Description


As part of a global biopharmaceutical organisation, the Manager of Medical Affairs Training secondee will support the strategic design, implementation, and continuous development of training programmes for the EUR/INT Regional Medical Affairs team. This role combines scientific and clinical expertise to enhance team performance and effectiveness in Oncology, Neuroscience, and other therapeutic areas. It will ensure alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and therapeutic area priorities while fostering cross-functional collaboration across Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Commercial teams.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Training Strategy and Development:
  1. Input and be involved in the delivery a comprehensive training strategy aligned with Regional Medical Affairs objectives, including onboarding and ongoing development.
  2. Liaise with Regional Medical Affairs teams to create scientifically robust training materials that integrate effective learning principles with priority medical strategies, ensuring consistency with organisational objectives.
  3. Collaborate with global and regional Medical Affairs stakeholders to produce adaptable training resources tailored to diverse learning styles and requirements.
Scientific and Medical Training:
  1. Input into the design and facilitate medical training programmes to equip teams with the scientific expertise and medical capabilities required to operate effectively.
  2. Update training materials with the latest clinical trial data, disease-state information, and regulatory standards to ensure readiness and excellence in HCP engagement.
  3. Provide support for key congresses, including training on new data and booth-related content.
Cross-Functional Integration:
  1. Liaise with marketing, sales, and medical teams to identify capability gaps and develop training solutions to enhance Medical Affairs performance.
  2. Collaborate in the creation of disease and product knowledge training materials, ensuring they are accurate, compliant, and aligned with forward-looking medical and commercial strategies.
  3. Promote cross-functional collaboration to help shape brand strategies and share best practices across Medical Affairs and Commercial teams.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
  1. Implement feedback mechanisms to assess the impact of training programmes, refining content and delivery methods based on adult learning principles.
  2. Liaise with cross-functional Medical team to manage Learning Management System (LMS) content, governance, and compliance to meet regulatory and/or industry standards.
  3. Track the effectiveness of training initiatives and make data-driven adjustments to maintain excellence.
Leadership and Vision:
  1. Participate in initiatives to develop the capabilities of medical leaders and their teams through coaching and leadership training.
  2. Apply elements of strategic thinking to navigate a complex, fast-paced environment and address evolving business and medical needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Comprehensive understanding of Medical Affairs and Commercial strategies within the biopharmaceutical sector.
  2. Expertise in adult learning principles, training delivery, and LMS tools.
  3. Strong project management, strategic planning, and communication skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to influence across organisational levels and functions within a matrixed structure.
  5. Exceptional organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
  1. Advanced degree in Science or Medicine (PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred).
  2. Substantial experience in pharmaceutical industry. Experience in sales, marketing, and/or training a benefit, including extensive experience in Medical Affairs or equivalent settings.
  3. Prior field experience in Medical Affairs preferred.
  4. Experience in working in cross-functional teams and designing innovative training solutions.
