Manager, Market & Competitive Intelligence
Location: Hybrid - London

Pearson, a global leader in education, is looking for a Manager, Market & Competitive Intelligence to join our Group Strategy team. This is an exciting opportunity where your expertise will play a critical role in identifying growth opportunities, tracking market movements, and driving high-impact business decisions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  1. Become the go-to expert on market and competitor intelligence for Pearson’s education portfolio.
  2. Develop and maintain a robust view of Pearson’s target addressable market to support strategic planning and investment.
  3. Track and analyse competitor strategies, new partnerships, and market shifts—sharing key implications with executive stakeholders.
  4. Provide market insight and strategic support on major initiatives, partnerships, and cross-functional projects.
  5. Present clear, insightful recommendations to senior leaders and influence strategic direction.
  6. Collaborate closely with the wider Corporate Development team across M&A, venture investments, and partnerships.
  7. Maintain effective internal documentation and strategy tools to support execution and performance tracking.

About You:

You're a strategic thinker and self-starter with a commercial mindset, equally comfortable zooming out to see the big picture and diving into data to drive action. You're curious, energetic, and naturally collaborative, with the ability to operate across a matrixed global organisation.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  1. Experience in strategy, management consulting, market intelligence, or corporate development.
  2. A passion for education and an interest in making an impact on a global scale.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills with a structured approach and strategic mindset.
  4. Financial literacy and experience building or evaluating business cases.
  5. Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  6. Confidence engaging with and influencing executive stakeholders.
  7. Ability to analyse complex data and turn insights into clear recommendations.

Desirable (but not essential):

  1. Experience from MBB/Big 4 consulting, strategy functions, or within multinational organisations.
  2. Experience in education, publishing, or digital services.
  3. Familiarity with tools like Python, Tableau, ChatGPT, Gemini, or other LLM tools.
  4. MBA or similar postgraduate qualification.
