All About the Role

This role is in the Fintech, Digital Partners & Government team which has a broad brief to develop business and manage relationships across multiple verticals and customers. Fintech (on which this role is focused) is a fast-growing, strategically important part of the Mastercard business. The Fintech Business Development Manager will be responsible for bringing new Fintech business into Mastercard, working across the Fintech value chain, identifying opportunities with new issuers and BIN Sponsors, processors, programme managers, and programmes/distributors, to grow Mastercard’s revenue and share in this important segment.

All About Role and Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the development of the UK & Ireland Fintech Business Development strategy.
  2. Assist with the development and management of a robust sales pipeline in coordination with Product, Customer Solutions Centre, FDG, and MCDS Account Management teams.
  3. Prospect for new Fintech business using cold prospecting channels including personal business network, business social media, thought leadership, and external events.
  4. Explore Fintech issuing opportunities with other parts of Mastercard (e.g. Acceptance, Security Solutions, Data & Services).
  5. Closely manage own business development pipeline.
  6. Build and develop a comprehensive external Fintech industry network.
  7. Prepare for and participate in new business conversations with key Fintech prospect decision makers.
  8. Analyse prospects’ core proposition, revenue model, and plans to establish Mastercard product and service opportunities including core issuing, acceptance, security solutions, data and services, remittances, open banking, and processing.
  9. Develop financial models and business cases to support prospects’ new business plans.
  10. Support the execution and management of the customer contract agreement process.
  11. Assist in evaluation of the deal process to deliver efficiencies and added improvements.
  12. Support existing business development relationships (e.g., government, regulators, industry bodies, BIN sponsors, programme managers).
  13. Ensure all opportunities are managed through the Salesforce platform, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.

Experience:

  1. Experience executing and managing business development strategies.
  2. Track record in achieving challenging business development targets.
  3. Experience of building customer relationships through sales and prospecting activity.
  4. Demonstrated success introducing existing and emerging solutions in a high-pressure sales environment.
  5. Experience of the UK and Ireland Fintech ecosystem.
  6. Comfortable working with c-suite clients.
  7. Participated in cross-functional projects.
  8. An understanding of Mastercard’s core products, services, rules, and ‘the Mastercard way.’
  9. An established network in the UK and Ireland Fintech vertical is desirable.
  10. Strong commercial acumen and experience of developing and presenting business proposals.
  11. A confident and adept networker and presenter.
  12. Team player and self-starter.
  13. Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
