Title and Summary

Manager, Acceptance Analytics Job Description Summary

Overview:

Acceptance is a foundational pillar of Mastercard’s success, complementing our technology, franchise, brand, and customer relationships to form a leading payment network together. In the past years, Acceptance underwent nothing short of a burst of innovation, driven both by incumbent card networks like Mastercard as well as fintechs, like Payment Facilitators. New acceptance models and innovative technology shifted consumer expectations, paving the way for new business models, like soft-POS, P2P, ISVs, and BNPL, which lead to an explosion of ubiquity or quantity of acceptance as well as quality of acceptance. As part of the global acceptance team, this role is pivotal to advance Mastercard’s position in a rapidly changing global acceptance landscape.

This position will involve working closely with data sets and Mastercard’s systems, and you'll be expected to be an expert in analytics who can also connect data insights to the bigger picture of business performance and strategy. As part of the Business Insights, Analytics & Experience team for Global Acceptance, you will identify trends and insights across products and performance, working with business teams to structure data and drive actionable insights that help inform strategy development.

In this role, you will partner with our Product & Engineering teams in Mastercard's global Acceptance Solutions, and you will play a key role in identifying new growth opportunities, spotting emerging patterns, and enabling measurable progress through data.

The job requires an agile and flexible approach as you will enable and support firm-wide implementations of key strategic projects such as evolving our definition of Acceptance Locations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead KPI definition reporting for Global Acceptance (including locations and Digital Acceptance Points), expanding and streamlining metrics to align with business needs and objectives.
  2. Identify trends and emerging patterns across data sets to provide actionable insights that contribute to business decision-making.
  3. Respond promptly to evolving business needs by providing timely and relevant insights that support strategic objectives and projects.
  4. Partner with cross-functional teams to structure and organize data, ensuring it drives valuable insights and supports key business initiatives.
  5. Provide strategic insights that inform the development of business strategies, ensuring that data drives future decisions.
  6. Continuously assess and improve analytics practices and reporting processes, driving efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
  7. Be an integral part of the Business Insights, Analytics & Experience team, collaborating across functions to understand trends, products, and business performance.

All About You:

  1. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and transform complex data into actionable insights.
  2. Proficiency with Mastercard’s data systems and tools, and comfortable navigating and working with various data sets.
  3. A strategic thinker who can connect detailed data insights to the broader business strategy.
  4. A quick learner with a passion for identifying new patterns, driving innovation, and helping businesses grow.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, understandable insights that drive business decisions.
  6. Strong collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and align on shared goals.
  7. Interest in being closer to strategy and actively contributing to strategy development through data-driven insights.
  8. Self-driven, adaptable, and motivated to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  9. Knowledge of programming languages like Python, R, or SQL to query databases, manipulate data, and automate tasks.
  10. Advanced skills in Excel, especially with pivot tables, advanced formulas, and macros, are crucial for analyzing and organizing data.
  11. The ability to communicate complex data findings in a clear, concise, and compelling manner, making data accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
