An established industry player is seeking a Management Accountant to enhance financial practices within their Departmental Finance Office. This role involves leading the development of financial protocols, collaborating with senior staff, and ensuring robust financial management. The successful candidate will possess a degree-level education and be a chartered accountant or have equivalent experience. You will leverage your expertise in Oracle Financials to support financial projects and provide guidance to non-financial staff. Applications are invited for the post of Management Accountant, based in the Departmental Finance Office in Central Cambridge.
You will lead on the development and maintenance of strategic financial protocols, reporting to the Head of Finance and delivering to the Head of Department, to ensure robust and consistent financial management practice based on needs identified from interactions with senior staff in the Department.
Working alongside the existing finance team, you will support the Head of Finance by leading special financial projects for Finance Office process improvements, research centres/facilities, as well as providing additional support and cover during peak times or holidays, to ensure annual reporting processes and day-to-day departmental support remains robust.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level/ level 7 vocational qualification and be a chartered accountant or have an equivalent level of experience. You will be competent in the use of Oracle Financials, or a similar accounting programme, with knowledge of financial management and strategic practices and related financial systems. You will have the ability to demonstrate a highly specialised knowledge of finance/accounting and have experience of providing financial advice to non-financial staff.
Significant relevant experience, ideally gained in both commercial and higher education/public sector environments, and the ability to interpret financial information and present to both financial and non-financial contacts are essential requirements for this role. Experience of leading an accounting/finance team would be desirable.
