Job description

Be part of making lives better as a Support Worker at Ewell Road House in Surbiton and experience what delivering great healthcare should feel like.

Use your knowledge, experience, and caring nature to make a positive difference to the lives of people with Learning Disabilities and Autism.

You’ll be looked after, with a fulfilling career where you’re valued, recognised, and supported, with colleagues there for you and a culture built on kindness and teamwork.

There’s also a range of training and development options available to help you achieve your career aspirations, allowing you to grow and succeed as a Support Worker and beyond.

What you will be doing

You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with Learning Disabilities and Autism, using your knowledge and skills to help people along their recovery pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life.

Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analysing behaviours and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.

It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you’ve made someone’s life better.

You will have access to the Elysium Wellbeing team, which is on hand to keep you feeling great; be it a chat, massage or group activities. Who doesn’t like a free massage at work?

With a huge range of courses that will help you grow and succeed, if you have the aspiration, capability and dedication, Elysium Healthcare can give you the support and opportunities to help you achieve your career goals.

This vacancy is a permanent, 37.5 weekly hours, full-time contract. The shift patterns include working weekends on a rota basis, 7.5 hours a day, 4-5 days a week between the hours of 7am and 10 pm.

We are actively encouraging male candidates who drive to apply for this opportunity at our specialist residential service in Surbiton. This is to accommodate the needs of our service users in the most efficient manner.

You must hold a clean and full UK driving licence as you will be responsible for driving staff and service users to the local destinations to support with the care plans.

Where you will be working:

Location: 89 Ewell Road, Surbiton, Surrey KT6 6AH

89 Ewell Road House is a nine bed, male only, community-based home made up of seven individual bedrooms and two self-contained flats. People supported at 89 Ewell Road have moderate learning disabilities and associated health needs, autism and behaviours which, due to their diagnosis may be seen as challenging.

The service is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by a dedicated team made up of the Registered Manager. All residents are registered with the local GP which allows access to specialist clinicians.

People may come to 89 Ewell Road as part of their care pathway, either moving from their community placement or the family home because they require more structured care and support.

What you will get:

  • Annual Salary of £23,693
  • The equivalent of 33 days annual leave (inc Bank Holidays) – plus your birthday off!
  • Wellbeing support and activities to help you maintain a great work-life balance.
  • Career development and training to help you achieve your career goals.
