Maintenance Technician (Shipwright)

Westlakes Recruit are currently looking for a candidate with relevant qualifications and experience in the maritime environment, including working with wood, GRP, and on commercial sailing or motorboats.

Responsibilities:

1. Woodworking and Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) repairs.
2. Proficiency in Woodwork machinery / Static machinery.
3. Knowledge or experience of Gel coat repairs.
4. A strong understanding of health and safety practices.
5. Knowledge of different timber types and GRP materials.

Desirable:

1. Experience in removal and replacement of hatches.
2. Formal qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Marine Construction, a Boatbuilding apprenticeship, or similar certification from an International Boatbuilding Training College.

Candidates without formal qualifications but with demonstrable experience in sailing yacht maintenance, working with power tools, and using woodworking machinery are encouraged to apply.
