Job description

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician (Injection Molding) requires the skill to troubleshoot and maintain plastics injection molding equipment and all ancillary equipment used in the process. This position is responsible for running, maintaining, and maintenance of plastic molding machinery and mechanical equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Follow, without exception, all work instructions and safety policies, including use of all PPE and safety equipment
  2. Examine machine controls to install plate changeovers and start-up machines for production needs when required
  3. Perform routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery
  4. Repair basic mechanical components and replace parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges and switches
  5. Observe and listen to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of the problem
  6. Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  7. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments
  8. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
  9. Lubricate and clean machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards within the plant
  10. Document and track changeover times and record
  11. Accomplish all work orders to maintain safety; reduce downtime; decrease scrap; improve quality production; and improve plant efficiency
  12. Follows all safety rules and procedures including the Lockout/Tagout program, housekeeping, and 5S standards and observes the operations to ensure a safe work environment
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  2. 3-5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  3. Tooling and repair experience highly preferred
  4. Experience with injection molding machines is highly preferred
  5. Ability to interpret documents such as procedure manuals, blueprints, schematics, charts, diagrams, etc.
  6. Ability to use precision measuring devices including amp meters, electric meters, and hydraulic gauges
  7. Basic understanding of systems, equipment and schematics
  8. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Good troubleshooting skills
  9. Basic mathematical skills used to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use decimals and fractions
