Location: Westbury, Wiltshire
Package: Basic Salary up to £32,000 + annual bonus & company benefits

The Maintenance Technician Role
Based at our manufacturing site in Westbury, you will be responsible for day-to-day reactive and pro-active maintenance activities for the buildings, grounds and equipment on site as well as ensuring routine compliance and reporting tasks are completed to schedule.
Maintenance Technician Key Duties

  • Facilities Activities: Perform hands on day-to-day reactive and proactive maintenance, cleaning and inspections of equipment, grounds, and buildings.
  • Equipment Installation: Support the maintenance engineers with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records to ensure legislative compliance and demonstrate due diligence.
  • Planned Maintenance: Maintain planned maintenance programmes and report on backlogs.
  • Waste Management: liaise with waste contractors arranging disposals as required.
  • Health & Safety: Work safely in line with all policy and regulations and promote initiatives to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Contractor Control: Oversee contractors on site, maintaining documentation records and issuing Permits to Work where required.
  • Procurement: Purchase parts and materials to support activities (May include driving activities)
  • Emergency Response: Be on call for emergency situations as they arise.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in focused improvement activities to enhance operational efficiency and propose improvements to the senior team.

Essential:
  • Proven experience in a facilities / maintenance role.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Experience of decorating / basic woodworking / building works.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to reside within a reasonable commute of the Westbury site or willingness to relocate.
  • IT proficient in basic Microsoft office Word/Excel/Outlook.
  • Be willing to travel to collect materials etc and to support other Macfarlane sites for project-based works.
Desirable but not necessary:
  • IPAF License (Cherry Picker)
  • Forklift License / experience with supporting training certificates
  • Electrical and/or mechanical training with experience.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of legislative compliance requirements for maintenance activities.
  • Familiarity with managing site waste and hazardous waste control.
  • Experience conducting routine facilities checks such as legionella, fire safety, emergency lighting etc.
