About the Role
This is a diverse and practical role ideal for someone with a background in construction, property maintenance, and general building. You'll be responsible for a wide range of projects and maintenance tasks, from carpentry and plumbing to bricklaying, roofing, and groundworks. Whether you're building new structures, fixing enclosures, or improving visitor facilities, your work will directly support the smooth running of this unique site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general building tasks, including bricklaying, rendering, plastering, roofing, carpentry, groundworks, plumbing, drainage, and minor electrical repairs.
- Conduct routine maintenance and upgrades to staff areas, animal enclosures, and public spaces.
- Assist with new construction projects, refurbishments, and installation work.
- Diagnose and resolve maintenance issues efficiently and safely.
- Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety standards and regulations.
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules across the site.
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 3 years' experience in general building, construction, or multi-trade roles.
- Skilled in at least two of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, roofing, plastering, welding, bricklaying, groundworks, drainage, or electrical work.
- Trade qualifications and certifications (CPCS, IPAF, NPORS, NPTC, etc.) are highly desirable.
- Experience operating plant and machinery such as telehandlers, forklifts, dumpers, MEWPs, or chainsaws.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
- Good understanding of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and relevant H&S legislation.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle (site not accessible by public transport).
- Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
