Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 1pm
Purpose of Role and Accountabilities: The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of up to 12 engineers, ensuring the maintenance of all machinery on site is carried out efficiently and to a high standard. The role will also include hands-on maintenance responsibilities, requiring the successful candidate to be electrically and mechanically biased and hold a relevant qualification.
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all facilities, machinery, and equipment.
Plan and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
Track maintenance metrics and KPIs to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Team Management:
Lead and manage a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Assign tasks, monitor progress, and conduct performance reviews to maintain a motivated and skilled workforce.
Coordinate with HR to recruit, hire, and onboard new maintenance staff as needed.
Equipment and Facility Management:
Oversee and ensure the proper functioning of production machinery and other critical systems.
Maintain and troubleshoot building systems to prevent disruptions in operations.
Coordinate repairs and replacements, working closely with external vendors when needed.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Prepare and manage the maintenance department’s budget, including labour, equipment, and material expenses.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through efficient resource management and energy conservation.
Track and analyse maintenance costs, ensuring that expenses stay within budget limits.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations for all maintenance activities.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify potential hazards and address them promptly.
Develop and enforce safety protocols and training programs for maintenance staff.
Inventory and Supplies Management:
Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts necessary for repairs and maintenance.
Ensure timely ordering of parts and supplies to avoid delays in maintenance schedules.
Work closely with procurement to source quality materials at the best prices.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment performance.
Prepare reports on maintenance trends, equipment efficiency, and cost analysis for management review.
Document maintenance procedures and updates to streamline future maintenance processes.
Core Skills/Attributes Needed:
Prior experience working as a maintenance manager, repair manager, or in a related role.
Demonstrated expertise in preventative and predictive maintenance programs, project management, and the inspection, repair, and installation of equipment.
Experience in dealing with budgets, schedules, and reporting in terms of maintenance work.
Demonstrated experience in leadership, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and decision-making.
Knowledge of safe work practices and safety regulations.
Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills.
University degree or equivalent higher qualification (not essential).
