Job description

Job Description:

Position Title: Maintenance Improvement Operative

Location: Dungannon

Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor

Hours of work: 39 hours per week

Summary of role:

This position focuses on optimizing maintenance processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, equipment reliability, and overall performance. Key responsibilities include identifying and implementing process improvements, assisting with planning and scheduling maintenance activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. The role also involves collaboration with teams, supporting training efforts, and contributing to a safe and effective work environment.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Process and Workflow Optimization:
    • Identify inefficiencies in maintenance processes and suggest actionable improvements.
    • Implement strategies to reduce downtime and enhance the efficiency of maintenance activities.
    • Monitor and improve the cycle time for maintenance jobs from initiation to completion.
  2. Support Maintenance Operations:
    • Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance tasks, ensuring alignment with operational priorities.
    • Work with maintenance teams to execute planned, corrective, and reactive maintenance activities.
  3. Continuous Improvement Projects:
    • Participate in or lead projects aimed at improving equipment reliability and system performance.
    • Utilize data analysis and feedback to propose upgrades or preventive measures.
  4. Record-Keeping and Documentation:
    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance activities in the CMMS or other tracking systems.
    • Support the development of best practices through documentation and knowledge-sharing.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Liaise with the maintenance team, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
    • Provide feedback to stakeholders on progress, performance, and opportunities for improvement.

Candidate Requirements

Education:

  • Minimum of four GCSE’s (C or above) including Maths & English
  • Technical certification or vocational training in maintenance, engineering, or a related field (preferred).

Experience:

  • Previous experience in maintenance operations or process improvement roles.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or similar platforms.

Skills:

  • IT Literacy
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting for tracking maintenance performance.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Understanding of maintenance processes, workflows, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance standards.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or other systems relevant to maintenance tasks (preferred).
