Job description

The Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance of the company machines, processes and tools. The department carries out installations and repairs and ensures the general upkeep of the building and surrounding areas.
The department is responsible for monitoring the use of utilities and identifying and carrying out reduction opportunities regarding usage.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Ensure equipment complies with and is used and maintained in accordance with all Health & Safety and Environmental legislation (e.g. PUWER, LOLER, PAT Testing).
  2. Undertake risk assessments and create method statements or action plans to ensure safe working practices whilst carrying out their duties.
  3. Maintain and service machines, equipment, utilities and resources in accordance with manufacturers or suppliers recommendations.
  4. Carry out preventive maintenance checks to enable proactive rather than reactive identification and rectification of faults.
  5. Order and maintain hand tools and general stock levels.
  6. Perform all general maintenance duties.
  7. Maintain documentation and records relevant to the maintenance function.

The Maintenance Department is operated by a small team. Effective and regular communication between department members and both external and internal business departments is crucial.
Competence Profile
  1. A technical background with high levels of commercial acumen.
  2. Attention to detail.
  3. An emphasis on safety, quality and duty of care.

Employment, Educational and Professional Background
  1. Minimum requirement of City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 Electrical, with experience in CNC machines and mechanical fitting, and/or a minimum of 3 years experience working in a CNC machinery environment.
  2. The ability to read and understand electrical drawings, a basic knowledge of fault finding and a good working knowledge of electrical installation work.
  3. A good working knowledge of electrical or mechanical installation work.
  4. The ability to work alone or lead a small team repairing and servicing CNC machinery.
