City Energy Solutions (CES) is a rapidly growing business. We generate electricity and provide heat directly to customers' homes from our energy centres via our district heating networks. CES is at an exciting and important time in its development, and we are looking for people with enthusiasm and energy to help us build a safe and sustainable business for the future.

Right now, we're looking for 2 Maintenance Engineers to join our CES team based in the Southwest. Here you will complete plant room related maintenance activities with a balance of hands-on and managing appropriate tasks for all mechanical and electrical issues that impact or are likely to impact operational performance of our District Heating Network (DHN) and communal heating schemes throughout the Southwest of England (but also UK areas if required).

The aim is to reduce unplanned unavailability keeping our customers on supply 24/7 and improve the performance of the assets while ensuring all major costs are identified early in the process to assist with business planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • General plumbing and heating work (HVAC)
  • Energy centre and heat substations plant monitoring
  • Following correct working processes and capturing accurate visit information
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety and PPE requirements and following the correct processes
  • Meeting any performance measures and KPIs set by the team leader/manager
  • Supporting other teams to deliver the necessary services to CES's customers

What we need from you

  • NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) with strong experience in plumbing, heating, mechanical or electrical work
  • Clean UK driving licence
  • Competent in IT systems, with the ability to understand risk assessments, procedures, and processes
  • Able to innovate and challenge existing processes to drive efficiency and improve plant performance
  • Contribution to site development by identifying best practices and commercial improvements
  • Capable of achieving E.ON's required competency levels, including Safe System of Work (SSOW) and Contractor Safety and Engagement (CSE)
  • Flexibility to cover an out of hours call out rota

It would be great if you had
  • Domestic gas boiler experience with relevant gas safety registration
  • Experience with District Heating Networks
  • Experience with large heat generation plants (CHP, Biomass)
