Job description

Cory operates the Transfer Station at Cringle Dock in addition to its existing Transfer Stations operated on behalf of the Western Riverside Waste Authority (Smugglers Way), City of London (Walbrook Wharf), Tower Hamlets (Northumberland Wharf) and Barking.

Cory is planning to invest more than £900 million in its operations and river infrastructure over the coming years. This includes the planned Riverside 2 energy from waste facility next to the company's existing energy from waste facility in Belvedere.

Cory is looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer (Technician) to ensure optimisation of the London Transfer Stations operation and carry out planned preventative maintenance programme, repairs, modifications and other engineering aspects of the main London Transfer Stations.

Key Role Elements

  1. Completing the planned preventative maintenance programmes (PPM) for the contract in a timely manner to a high standard.
  2. Providing pro-active control of the process equipment to ensure maximise efficiency.
  3. Adjusting and installing alternative component parts and functions within the process equipment, to adapt and enhance the process equipment and ensuring timely replacement/adjustment to avoid potential interruption or reduced efficiency due to malfunction or wear.
  4. To attend breakdowns and provide technical support.
  5. Assisting the Supervisor/Manager to ensure stores are maintained and stores database is up to date.
  6. Assisting with the implementation of the Integrated Management System (IMS), which require engineering support.
  7. Assisting the Supervisor/Manager with Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Permits to work to ensure Safe systems of work.

The individual we are looking for will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  1. Technically qualified with proven experience in a similar environment.
  2. Good computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  3. Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  4. Experience of working with heavy mobile plant.
  5. Flexible and able to work well and quickly under pressure.
  6. High level of attention to detail.
  7. Team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  8. Is able to work extra hours or attend job related training including weekends.
  9. Holds a full, valid UK Driving Licence.
Important Information

This role is based at our Cringle Dock Transfer Station, but you may be required to work at other Transfer Stations if required.


The following shift pattern applies:

  1. Week 1: 06:00-14:00
  2. Week 2: 14:00-22:00
  3. Weekend work is required every alternate week, with overtime paid (Saturday x1.5, Sunday x2)
