Maintenance Engineer

Job description

Primary objective of this position:

Work as part of a small team to provide a fully comprehensive maintenance service to the manufacturing facilities. Provide a reliable and professional service, ensuring all machinery and equipment is available to use as required to meet the production plan. Support and contribute to a continuous improvement culture for site maintenance activity, continually seeking out cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities and performance measures for this role:

1. Assessment, diagnosis and repair of equipment as required to maintain production build plan
2. Completion of annual Planned Maintenance plan
3. Supervise contractors to carry out occasional work from time to time
4. Maintain accurate records of work carried out on all equipment
5. Carry out TPM routines for every production section
6. Carry out all refurbishment work as required
7. Utilise downtime periods to effectively overhaul equipment
8. Assist in redesign of processes as required
9. Carry out routine maintenance and machine refurbishment or upgrades as required to keep the machinery or equipment fit for purpose
10. Re-locate and install equipment as required
11. Identify machinery / equipment not fit for purpose and propose cost effective solutions to ensure activity can still be carried out
12. Ensure all work that is undertaken is completed safely and with relevant authorisation
13. Comply with the Health and Safety responsibilities as defined in the company health and safety policy, and ensure that any specific responsibilities are adequately delegated in their absence.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience required:

1. C&G (or similar) in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
2. Time served apprentice in a Technical discipline or equivalent experience
3. Practical knowledge of control systems and PLC's
4. Good mechanical knowledge
5. Diagnostic methodology for repair of electrical, electronic hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical faults
