Job description

Maintenance Engineer Job Overview

My client based in the Caerphilly area are currently looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer with welding skills to join their busy manufacturing site on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a variety of machinery and equipment used in food production.
  2. Proactively identify potential issues and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  3. Respond promptly and efficiently to any machinery breakdowns or technical problems that arise during production hours.
  4. Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic tests to accurately identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  5. Collaborate with production teams to develop and implement maintenance schedules that do not disrupt the production flow.
  6. Monitor and control equipment performance, ensuring optimal efficiency and adherence to safety standards.
  7. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including logs, reports, and records.
  8. Work to food safety standards.
  9. Ensure that engineering contractors adhere to site rules, health & safety and food safety standards.

Maintenance Engineer Job Requirements
  1. Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, preferably in a food production or manufacturing environment.
  2. Strong technical knowledge of machinery and equipment used in food production, including but not limited to conveyors, mixers, fillers, and packaging machines.
  3. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems effectively.
  4. Proficient in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  5. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve urgent issues.
  6. Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and relay technical information clearly.
  7. Welding experience is essential.
  8. Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in maintenance tasks.

Maintenance Engineer Salary & Benefits
  1. £16.94 an hour
  2. Overtime paid at 1.25x, 1.5x Saturday premium and 2.0x Sunday premium
  3. Day shift, Monday to Friday (39 hours per week)
  4. Full benefits to be discussed
