Job description

Maintenance Electrician / Electrical Engineer with experience as a time-served industrial electrician performing electrical and some mechanical maintenance activities, excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and fault-finding skills is required for a well-established facility based in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd, Wales.

SALARY: Competitive + Benefits

LOCATION: Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd, Wales (LL41)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

Day Positions: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Shift Positions: 12-hour shifts based on either 3 or 4 shifts per week, will include some Nights and Weekend working – must be willing to cover shifts at short notice

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician / Electrical Engineer with experience as a time-served industrial electrician performing electrical and some mechanical maintenance activities, excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.

Working as the Maintenance Electrician / Electrical Engineer you will report to the Electrical Supervisor and will carry out reactive and preventative planned maintenance activities on all plant equipment and services.

As the Maintenance Electrician / Electrical Engineer you will be able to interpret basic electrical symbols and drawings (EN60617UK) and will be a critical thinker with excellent communication skills.

DUTIES

Your main duties as the Maintenance Electrician / Electrical Engineer will include:

  1. In the event of problems, faults and failures you will carry out effective troubleshooting using specialist knowledge and fault-finding techniques to restore production as soon as practicably possible.
  2. Carrying out periodic inspection, testing & calibration on electrical equipment.
  3. Carrying out a range of industrial project work on low voltage, extra low voltage, data cable systems & control cabinet construction.
  4. Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems generally.
  5. Collaborating with and supporting the instrument technicians on process projects and troubleshooting issues.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Previous experience as a time-served industrial electrician.
  2. A recognised Electrical Engineering qualification, through serving an Engineering Apprenticeship (preferably to HNC level).
  3. Current relevant experience working in an industrial location.
  4. Excellent problem solving and fault-finding skills are essential.
  5. Experience working on PLC systems (such as Siemens S7) and knowledge of industry 4.0 (smart working) is desirable.
  6. Knowledge of energy management to ISO 50001 is an advantage.
  7. Some experience with performing mechanical maintenance activities would be an advantage.
  8. Able to interpret basic electrical symbols and drawings (EN60617UK).
  9. Certified with an 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2018) is preferred.
  10. Able to work as part of a team with good communication skills, and the ability to influence others.
  11. Be a critical thinker, being able to analyse information and provide a solution to situations effectively.
  12. Right to work in the UK is essential.
