Qualifications

Job Description

Summary
As a Controls Technician on the Maintenance Team, you will work to deliver solutions that enhance process reliability, product quality, and overall plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consult diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards, and codes.
  • Maintain backup and revision documentation for control systems and instrumentation.
  • Manage SCADA-type devices in an industrial environment.
  • Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain control, measurement, and indicating instrumentation (pneumatic, analog, and digital).
  • Configure and program Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC).
  • Organize and order PLC control components to maintain plant process control systems.
  • Collaborate with corporate IT staff as needed for network and computer activities.
  • Prepare technical reports to document issues and changes to equipment.
  • Manage projects to implement changes and improvements.
  • Be available for on-call support to meet production needs.
  • Install and terminate electrical, pneumatic, and fluid connections.
  • Inspect and test the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults.
  • Remove, repair, adjust, and replace components.
  • Calibrate components and systems.
  • Assist engineering in plant design, modification, and hazard analysis.
  • Maintain various computer-based control systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance programs.
  • Stay updated with advancements in industry technology and trade.
  • Work with various instruments, including transmitters, analyzers, sensors, detectors, signal conditioners, recorders, controllers, and final control elements, to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force, and chemical composition.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate’s degree, specialized training, or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize tasks across multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized with strong time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented work style.
  • Dedication and commitment to meeting expectations.
  • Team player with cooperative yet assertive behavior.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding environment.

  • Proven experience in PLC logic and programming, particularly with Allen Bradley PLCs and other controllers.
  • Ability to create and interpret logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
