Job description

M&E Facilities Engineer | Leeds | Up to £49,655 per annum | On-site

Are you a hands-on professional with a background in mechanical, electrical, or facilities maintenance? Do you enjoy working in a dynamic environment where your skills contribute directly to the smooth operation of critical infrastructure? If so, this opportunity may be just right for you.

As an M&E Facilities Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the mobilisation, testing, and commissioning of new engineering facilities during the TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU) project. Working alongside the Engineering Facilities Lead, you will ensure that all buildings, rail depot infrastructure, plant equipment, lifting equipment, and utility supplies are maintained to the highest standards.

This role is 24-month FTC, but should the successful applicants carry out their duties successfully, they will have the opportunity to apply for permanent positions.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Support the Engineering Facilities Lead in the setup, maintenance, and handover of new facilities.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
  3. Carry out maintenance, servicing, repairs, and overhauls of plant installations and infrastructure.
  4. Undertake routine inspections and testing of equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  5. Operate plant and equipment as per certification and safety guidelines.
  6. Liaise with contractors, ensuring adherence to site safety and work package plans.
  7. Maintain accurate records of completed work, inspections, and outstanding issues.
  8. Follow safety protocols and comply with SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) policies.

Candidate Essentials:
  1. Experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or building maintenance.
  2. Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and safety instructions.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  4. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  5. Willingness to undertake additional competency training.

Qualifications:
  1. Personal Track Safety and Depot Safety trained.
  2. Legionella awareness trained.
  3. Asbestos awareness trained.
  4. Fire awareness trained.
  5. IOSH/NEBOSH qualification (desirable but not essential).
  6. Powered Plant Certification (forklift, lifting equipment, etc.) (desirable but not essential).

  1. Salary: Up to £57,644 per annum.
