An exciting opportunity has arisen for either an experienced Fuels & Lubricants specialist practitioner, or someone wanting to take their first or next step on the development ladder within the logistics profession in what is a safety critical role.

RAF Cosford is a large and diverse station with a transient population home to a diverse range of station support elements supporting the Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering and all other resident and parented units to achieve their defence output delivery.

The role is part of a team within the Logistics Sqn which is part of the Operational Support Wing (OSW) at RAF Cosford, and it provides a pivotal function to the Station Commander as Head of Establishment with assurance of regulatory and legislative compliance.

We are looking for someone with good communication and organisational skills, with an attention to detail and the drive to see tasks through. Using proficient IT and organisational experience you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders and build relationships with colleagues across multiple TLBs to ensure smooth operational delivery and high-quality service in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Whilst experience within or an understanding of the Fuels & Lubricants environment would be advantageous, the candidate will ideally have recent experience in a logistics environment with transferable organisational and communication skills. Support is available to someone willing to take advantage of development opportunities including completing mandatory training requirements associated with the role.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job Description

As an integral part of the Logs Sqn, the Fuels & Lubricants Senior Storekeeper is an interesting and challenging role responsible for the receipt, and issue of fuels and associated supplies and consumables, providing the technical expertise as the interface between Logs Sqn and its extensive customer base located over multiple sites. The duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Management of the materiel account and integrity of physical stock and storage regulations, conducting quality assurance activities.
  2. Management of Fuels & Lubricant products, Bulk Fuel Stocks and Hazardous Waste materials of various Fuels & Lubricant Products, including paperwork, handling, quality and batch control, storage, issue, disposal and receipt.
  3. Stocktaking and disposal of non-movement items.
  4. Liaise with inventory holders and nominated suppliers for transactions.
  5. Act as the supervisor and operator for the Fuels & Lubricants Section, ensuring to meet legislation & regulatory requirements.
  6. Management of transportation documentation and reports, packaging requirements and raising discrepancy reports and claims against carriers.
  7. Unloading and unpacking of equipment received from external sources.
  8. Management of hazardous waste and salvageable scrap commodities, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and legislation.
  9. Act as a team member within the site Spillage Response Team.
  10. Undertake driving duties of the section vehicle and forklift truck, operating mechanical handling equipment where required.
Additionally, there will be supervisory responsibility of a team of Skill Zone 2 Storekeepers.

The candidate will ideally have recent experience in the Fuels & Lubricants environment and/or transferable organisational and communication skills with a willingness to learn, including completion of mandatory training requirements associated with the role.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Full UK Driving license
  2. The minimum colour perception standard for Installation Operators is CP2 for duties including driving on active airfields. This is to be assessed during an Airfield Medical Assessment alongside Pre-Employment Checks.
Desirable Criteria:

  1. Previous experience of working in a logistics and/or warehouse environment.
  2. Knowledge & Experience of working in a Fuels & Lubricants Environment.
  3. Previous experience of supervising employees and/or delegating workload.
  4. Forklift operator (training will be provided if not already held).
  5. Material Handling Equipment training (training will be provided if not already held).
Qualifications:

  1. Appropriate Fuels & Lubricants or Logistics qualification - if not already held the successful candidate must obtain this within 6 months of entering the post.
  2. Dangerous Goods Knowledge & Experience - if not already held the successful candidate must obtain this within 6 months of entering the post.

Full UK driving Licence.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
