JOB SCOPE AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

To lead, manage and develop the Logistics Operation for the EssilorLuxottica Operations Department in Thornbury. To develop a framework that will allow the team to meet its KPIs, whilst driving efficiency and automation into all relevant processes. This role will be based in Thornbury, Bristol, and will lead a team of 2 shift managers and 50 operators. The Logistics manager will:

  1. Identify, define, create and implement new processes to ensure that relevant goods, stock and machinery shipments in and out the UK and Ireland for Essilor Ltd are managed effectively in order to meet the business and legal requirements.
  2. Manage shipments in and out, liaising with 3rd party agencies for clearance of goods through customs or resolve other issues promptly and efficiently with minimal cost, building strong working relationships with transport providers for the deployment of business expansion and deployment of excellent service.
  3. Manage external transport service providers to ensure inbound and outbound freight is handled correctly and to agreed service level agreements.
  4. Manage the last mile distribution of customer orders across UK, Ireland and into Europe. Communicate with the supply chain teams and managers in the appropriate manner so that they are fully aware of all relevant information, including marketing promotions, new product launches and issues affecting the team.
  5. Identify, scope and implement projects that add efficiency to the current operation. Use automation as a key driver for this within the back office environment.
  6. Lead and develop a highly motivated team that consistently delivers a highly efficient order processing, warehouse, stores and distribution service and provides first in class support to the operations teams.
  7. Implement operational plans in conjunction with the Thornbury Site Manager to deliver business KPI’s, objectives and projects in line with set timescales and financial boundaries.
  8. Participate in the development of annual plans and budgets and performance targets for the Logistics so that they have sufficient resources to achieve agreed objectives. Set and deliver department performance targets and complete performance review meetings with direct reports.
  9. Foster a culture of continuous learning, development and role rotation to ensure that the teams are constantly building their experience and their ability to support Essilor Ltd operations and customers. Monitor and review all processes, introduce and maintain a culture of continuous improvement into the teams. Identify, arrange and evaluate training for new and existing staff including reviewing and maintaining department training plans and records. Work with other internal departments to develop a training roadmap for the team to ensure the team are able to meet their targets.
  10. Manage the team to ensure that they possess the correct numbers and structure to carry out all functions and tasks associated with the 24hrs/6 days operation, including during peak workload and holiday periods. Recruit and induct new members of the logistics team as appropriate.
  11. Manage resources to ensure that all orders, services and queries are dealt with correctly, accurately, efficiently and to KPI’s.
  12. Liaise closely with all internal teams to ensure a good working relationship and lines of communication are maintained. Build strong working relationships with operational departments, central supply teams, server labs and commercial teams to help expand the business smoothly.
  13. Monitor the performance of outsource routes and flows into the Thornbury lab advising all stakeholders when targets are not met.
  14. Be a role model for the deployment of continuous improvement, excellent service & full support of the business objectives within the team. Be a role model of the Company Principles and Values, holding yourself and others accountable to them and acting in accordance with them at all times. Be a role model for all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment policies.
