Job description

JOB TITLE: Logistics Assistant

INDUSTRIES: Retail

LOCATION: Oakham

SALARY: £29,500-£31,000

HOURS: 45 Hours Per week (4 days a week to include alternate weekends)

The role:

  1. Liaise with the Logistics Manager to plan delivery schedules and routes
  2. Liaise with delivery drivers regarding agreed schedules and routes
  3. Ensure delivery schedules and targets are met
  4. Ensure the accuracy of delivery shipments and check condition of goods before dispatch
  5. Assist with picking and packing online orders
  6. Assist with preparing goods for delivery and loading vans when required
  7. Liaise with suppliers regarding booking in deliveries
  8. Organise traffic flow of delivery vehicles for unloading
  9. Organise the receipt of goods into the Distribution Centre
  10. Check goods on arrival and input into the stock system
  11. Liaise with team leader regarding the storage of goods
  12. Liaise with department heads regarding the onward movement of goods
  13. Ensure the Dispatch Centre, goods in, stores and yard areas are well maintained and secure
  14. General admin tasks relating to the role

The ideal candidate:

  1. Previous logistics experience, including goods in/out experience is preferred, but full training will be provided
  2. Able to safely and efficiently move and handle stock using the correct equipment and procedures
  3. Must be highly computer literate, accurate and reliable
  4. Excellent organisational skills with great attention to detail
  5. Responsible and trustworthy
  6. Flexible with a 'can do' positive attitude
  7. Self-motivated, enthusiastic and well organised
  8. Happy to be 'hands-on' when required
  9. A good team player with a friendly personality
